A Study of User's Performance and Satisfaction on the Web Based Photo Annotation with Speech Interaction
This paper reports on empirical evaluation study of users' performance and
satisfaction with prototype of Web Based speech photo annotation with speech
interaction. Participants involved consist of Johor Bahru citizens from various
background. They have completed two parts of annotation task; part A involving
PhotoASys; photo annotation system with proposed speech interaction and part B
involving Microsoft Microsoft Vista Speech Interaction style. They have
completed eight tasks for each part including system login and selection of
album and photos. Users' performance was recorded using computer screen
recording software. Data were captured on the task completion time and
subjective satisfaction. Participants need to complete a questionnaire on the
subjective satisfaction when the task was completed. The performance data show
the comparison between proposed speech interaction and Microsoft Vista Speech
interaction applied in photo annotation system, PhotoASys. On average, the
reduction in annotation performance time due to using proposed speech
interaction style was 64.72% rather than using speech interaction Microsoft
Vista style. Data analysis were showed in different statistical significant in
annotation performance and subjective satisfaction for both styles of
interaction. These results could be used for the next design in related
software which involves personal belonging management.Comment: IEEE Publication Format,

Flexible photo retrieval (FlexPhoReS) : a prototype for multimodel personal digital photo retrieval
Digital photo technology is developing rapidly and is motivating more people to have large personal collections of digital photos. However, effective and fast retrieval of digital photos is not always easy, especially when the collections grow into thousands. World Wide Web (WWW) is one of the platforms that allows digital photo users to publish a collection of photos in a centralised and organised way. Users typically find their photos by searching or browsing uSing a keyboard and mouse. Also in development at the moment are alternative user interfaces such as graphical user interfaces with speech (S/GUI) and other multimodal user interfaces which offer more flexibility to users. The aim of this research was to design and evaluate a flexible user interface for a web based personal digital photo retrieval system. A model of a flexible photo retrieval system (FlexPhoReS) was developed based on a review of the literature and a small-scale user study. A prototype, based on the model, was built using MATLAB and WWW technology. FlexPhoReS is a web based personal digital photo retrieval prototype that enables digital photo users to . accomplish photo retrieval tasks (browsing, keyword and visual example searching (CBI)) using either mouse and keyboard input modalities or mouse and speech input modalities. An evaluation with 20 digital photo users was conducted using usability testing methods. The result showed that there was a significant difference in search performance between using mouse and keyboard input modalities and using mouse and speech input modalities. On average, the reduction in search performance time due to using mouse and speech input modalities was 37.31%. Participants were also significantly more satisfied with mouse and speech input modalities than with mouse and keyboard input modalities although they felt that both were complementary. This research demonstrated that the prototype was successful in providing a flexible model of the photo retrieval process by offering alternative input modalities through a multimodal user interface in the World Wide Web environment.EThOS - Electronic Theses Online ServiceGBUnited Kingdo

TRAINING MANAGEMENT AS AN ANTECEDENT OF TRAINING TRANSFER
Present literature related to human resource development highlights that training management is a strategic human resource management policy. This issue has been viewed as a remarkable phenomenon in dynamic organizations. Recent studies mostly published in the 21st century proved that the ability of management to plan and implement training programs may produce a noteworthy effect on work related attitudes, particularly in training transfer. This study incorporates a cross-sectional design as it delivers flexibility to the researchers in incorporating the training management literature, a self-administered questionnaires and semi-structured interview to gather data from participants at a military medical corps using a purposive sampling method. They are the administrators, medical doctors, nurses and supporting staff who work in different divisions within the organization. The SmartPLS path model analysis was utilized to analyze the validity and reliability of the instrument, and thus testing the research hypotheses. The results of SmartPLS path model analysis revealed that the implementation of communication and assignment in managing training programs had led to higher employees’ motivation to transfer, while implementation of support in managing training programs had not led to higher employees’ motivation to transfer in the organizational sample. Therefore, this study further suggests that communication and assignment should be considered as a critical success factor for the training management domain, as well as external and internal obstacles should be comprehensively evaluated to maintain and achieve the training goals in an era of knowledge-based organization. Pengaruh Mononatrium Glutamat pada Pertumbuhan, Tanah, dan Hasil Bayam Hijau (Amaranthus gangeticus)
This study aims to influence the use of monosodium glutamate (MSG) on soil chemical properties and the growth and yield of green spinach (Amaranthus gangeticus) on Silabukan soil. Spinach is grown in polybags with six types of MSG treatment: without MSG (control), with 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 g, with three repetitions. This study used a Complete Randomized Design, and the differences between treatments were analyzed using the least significant difference and Duncan methods. Observations were made under the auspices of rain at the Faculty of Agriculture Lestari, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, for four weeks. The parameters recorded are the components of plant growth, namely the circumference of the trunk, the number of leaves, the height of the tree, as well as the yield components in the form of wet weights and dry weights. The parameters of soil properties selected are soil pH, electrical conductivity, salinity, cation exchange rate, available-phosphorus, carbon content, hydrogen content, and aluminum exchange, taken before and after planting. Based on the analysis, the use of MSG negatively affects the growth and yield of green spinach. On the other hand, the control treatment showed very high growth and yield. Therefore, using MSG is not recommended to increase the growth and yield of green spinach grown in Silabukan soil. However, MSG increases the soil's pH, electrical conductivity, and salinity.

Mentoring communication practices and their relationship with study performance
According to the recent literature connecting to institutions of higher learning, mentoring communication
practices have two important features: interpersonal communication and communication openness. These
communication practices may lead to an improved mentees’ study performance. Although many studies have been
done, the role of mentoring communication practices as an essential determinant has been left unexplained in
the institutions of higher learning research literature. Therefore, this study was undertaken to examine the effect
of mentoring communication practices on study performance. A survey method was employed to collect selfadministered
questionnaires from undergraduate accounting, economics and management students at a public
research university in Malaysia. The results of SmartPLS path model analysis demonstrate that interpersonal
communication does not act as an essential determinant of mentees’ study performance, while communication
openness does act as an essential determinant of mentees’ study performance in the organizational sample.

penyelidikan tingkah laku organisasi.
Keputusan
analisis model SmartPLS menunjukkan bahawa tahap tekanan kerja (tahap kesamaran
tanggungjawab, pertelingkahan tanggungjawab dan beban tanggungjawab) yang tinggi tidak
berupaya meningkatkan konflik kerja-keluarga apabila penyelia sanggup menghulurkan
